The Gloved One

Since launching her “Single Ladies” video last month, Beyonce has been spotted rocking this custom designed glove from her favorite jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz. We're used to it in her performances but here she's on the red carpet of Europe's MTV awards. Is this a trend we love or loathe?

Making A Statement

Rihanna hit the streets of L.A. in this number. She’s become a huge fan of all black ensembles. This time it’s the statement necklace that gets our attention. That’s the whole point right. Do you love it?

Oprah's Favorite Things on a Budget

Oprah’s favorite things show is the show viewers wait all year for. It’s the show people pray to get tickets for. Well, this year, the show that sends women into a frenetic frenzy will be a little different. Oprah’s favorite things is on a budget! She is going to display things that are very affordable some of which don’t cost a thing. So, don’t expect that HDTV refrigerator with the DVD player. That certainly wouldn’t make this years list. I commend Lady O for keeping in step with the economy and the pockets of her viewers. Still, I can’t wait to see the look on the faces of the audience members when they realize that $1200 pajamas just didn’t make the list this year. The show airs today.

Vested Interest

Beyonce hit the stage at the AMA’s and rocked this two piece number. I really like the jacket. The cut of it keeps it structured but it’s still funky and fun! Her new persona - Sasha Fierce seems to be all about taking chances in fashion. For the alter ego she sports more avant garde fashion.
As Beyonce, her style is much softer. Which do you prefer?

Bad Girl Rihanna

Rihanna is still holding on to the good girl gone bad persona. She brought it all out for this performance. What do you think of her get up? And that eye patch?

Red Carpet Fashions : The AMA Edition Part 2

The Pussycat Dolls hit the carpet in designs from Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. His favorite word is fierce and that definitely applies to these designs. He really worked it out. Glad to see him doing well. He’s one of the most visible winners from the show.
Work it out then, Chris!

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Tocarra during her top model days. She did grow on me a little. Since then, she’s gone on do to good things. She has a hosting gig with BET and she’s booked work as a model. Her most high profile gig was being a featured model in the all black issue of Italian Vogue. That was HUGE! This look on the red carpet last night was a HUGE mess! It’s kinda Little Bo Peep chic. That’s not a good thing. Her makeup and hair are flawless. I just can’t get past the get up and the red shoes are NOT helping. Sigh…

Best Dressed : The AMA Edition

The stars of the music world were out in full force last night for the American Music Awards. I am a huge music lover, so I was tuned in for all three hours. My husband on the other hand, was over it after 45 min. I came for the music and the side dish of fashion. When it came to red carpet style, there were definitely some stunners and some uh, bummers. Let’s start with the stunners…

For some reason, Rihanna doesn’t disappoint. She definitely takes risks but, they seem to work for her. I’m not sure who else could have pulled off this frock. I’ve heard some describe it as a dust ruffle. I thought it was pure fabulousness. It’s light and breezy. What do you expect from a girl from Barbados. The shoes topped it off well. She could have gone with metallic strappy pumps, but at the end of the day it seems like that would be the easy choice.

While I am usually a fan of the uber-fabulous Alicia Keys, I am on the fence about the head jewelry. My first thoughts were she should have paired it with smaller earring to pull it off. It kind of looked over done. What do you think?

Queen Latifah is one of my favorites on the red carpet. I forget sometimes that she really knows how to bring it! This body hugging dress shows off her curves. The jewelry is just enough without being over the top. The hair and the makeup are flawless. Can we take a minute just to focus on the fabulousness that are her shoes! They are my favorite part of the outfit. Those things are fierce!

Fashion Find

This swing coat is one of the season's hottest trends and this one is flawless. Perfect for staying warm AND fabulous on a night out.

I love this party dress. It's simple and chic. The detail I love most are the pockets!

This look would definitely work in the office. You could fiercely rock it to work and then on to cocktails with friends. Loving the skinny leg on this pant.

This dress is super chic. It definitely takes a cue from the seasons hottest trends with the jewel toned bottom.

I was snooping around the net at various fashions and came across a name I didn't recognize. After checking out her style, I'm hopeful that Julianna Bass will be a household name on the level of Versace, YSL and Prada. The structure of her pieces have me completely sold. Whether it's a party dress, a cape/swing coat or something for the office, all of her designs have something special. I just had to display a few things. Loving it!

New Year's Anyone?

It's that time of the year... Holiday parties will be in abundance. While the parties at the office are being cancelled left and right. Your calendar is still filling up with places to go and people to see. Add something like this to the things to get list. This stunner is from Giuseppe Zanotti. It shows off a satin strap with a metallic fish vamp. The crowning glory is the head of the fish. It's filled with crystals. The wood heel provides the perfect contrast. When I saw it, I thought it whispered "come get me." Hmmm... not sure. I'd love to strap these around my foot for a New Years get together but I'm sure I have a bill that needs to come first. Again, I'm awakened from my daydream... darn that whisper.

Black Monday - The LJ Edition

Excuse me while I grieve the loss of my favorite show this fall. I can't believe NBC has cancelled Lipstick Jungle. I am/was a loyal viewer. The show remains TIVO'd in my house. Alas, that wasn't enough to keep Wendy, Victory and Nico on the air. I knew it was the beginning of the end when the time slot was changed from Wednesday night to Friday nights. Most people in the demographic of the show are out on a Friday night! It was almost as if NBC had given up. Oh wait, that's exactly what they did. For someone who doesn't watch much TV as it is. My options have just gotten smaller. Thanks NBC. Read. My. Lips. You are officially a dream killer.

Lady M

There are major moves going on in the world of fashion. One of which involves Madonna. The queen of re-invention is changing up her look this time from one V to another. She's moving on from being the face of the house of Versace and making her way into the house of Louis Vuitton. She'll be in all the upcoming ads and rocking them fabulously, I'm sure. I hope she brings some of her signature creativity to the campaign. The big question for me is how does this lady do it? A new album, a world tour and the face of a major fashion house at 50 years old. In this business, one could only be so lucky!

Who Rocked It?

Eva Longoria Parker is effectively squashing the pregnancy rumors in this powder pink Marchesa gown. She kept it simple and paired the strapless number with gold peep toe pumps. Ashanti hit the red carpet in the same dress and pulled hers together with bronze ankle strap pumps. Who rocked this look?

Viva Pam!

The eternal beach blond, Pam Anderson is going to be putting her modeling skills to work. How you, ask? The bombshell has been named the new face of Vivienne Westwood. The designer is known for funky designs. Not sure of her work? Check out Carrie's wedding dress in the Sex and the City movie. It was a Vivienne Westwood original.

It will be interesting to see how she incorporates Pam into her new campaign. One thing we do know, they shot the photos in a trailer park. I don't know what that means, but it is bound to be worth looking for.

Who Rocked It?

Lately, actress Anne Hathaway has become quite the fashionista. She's been spotted in some of the hottest looks and this one is no exception. She and Jasmine de Milo worked the same LBD at the Righteous Kill premiere. Anne worked it out with hot shades and sexy pumps. Jasmine added a belt to the dress to make it her own. She topped it off with a clutch and sandals. One question: Who rocked it?

Yes We Did!

After a hard fought campaign season, the most exciting and important election in my lifetime has come to a close and in the process HISTORY was made! Barack Obama has won over the American voters to become the 44th President of the United States of America! I can't believe it's finally happened. This country has finally elected it's first African American President. I love it! I have so many feelings, I can't put it into words. As an African-American woman, I'm beyond proud to see someone who looks like me get a opportunity like this. He's qualified, he represents change in more ways than we can count and apparently the U.S. was ready for a "Change We Can Believe In". Congratulations President Elect Barack H. Obama. You had my support from day one and I continue to support you. Inauguration is going to be something special!

Voting en Vogue

There have been a lot of fashions in support of this historic election. I thought I'd highlight a few...

First there are these t-shirts that are kind of cute... in a generic sort of way.

No worries though, if you want to show your party loyalty. Check out this shoes from Tom's. You can order a pair of the canvas kicks with the Donkey, the Elephant or one of each for you undecided folks.

The election has also made an appearance on the runways. This dress is one example of a designers support for Senator Barack Obama.

Donatella Versace went as far as dedicating her collection to the senator. Fashion and politics.... interesting bedfellows.

No matter who your candidate or your political affiliation, it's so important to make your vote count in this historic election. Besides, what's more stylish than exercising your right?

Oh So Posh...

Only our girl Vikki B. would be brave enough to don these sky scrapers. The above pink leather shoe looks like more of a weapon than footwear but to Posh... I'm sure they are works of art. From the looks of her feet, they seem a little bit painful. It's alright though, beauty is pain! As for the black patent leather stilettos she's rocking... the pencil think heel would definitely keep me away. That's got to be six inches of metal holding her up. I think her name should be changed from Posh Spice to Fearless Spice. Taking risks like these is what makes her a Glamazon!
