Madonna's Material World

Madonna has been asked to grace the campaign ads of French fashion house Louis Vuitton yet again. The material girl will be teaming up with famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel for the shoot. They'll be treading familiar ground as he shot her last campaign for Vuitton's spring/summer collections.

Fashion for Sale

Not sure I thought I'd ever see the day when this would happen but, this recession makes some crazy things happen. The owners of fashion house Christian Lacroix are looking for a buyer! Owners, the Falic Group, are in negotiations with investors from Switzerland to sell a majority stake in the fashion house. The thing about this sell off, is Lacroix is one of a only a handful of fashion houses that produce haute couture. Sure they do jeans, shoes and other things but, the rarity is haute couture. The other sad thing is that in this economy people will be losing jobs whether this deal goes through or not. According to reports, the sale isn't final yet.

Fashion and music have always been bed buddies so it should come as no surprise that fashion's top designers are having a love affair with the radio. Isaac Mizrahi, who seems determined to conquer every medium, launched a radio show recently. His show is called Isaac Mizrahi: Tell Me Everything and it airs on Martha Stewart Living Radio. On his show he takes calls on fashion and style advice. Kinda like the Sketches and Answers bit he did on his Style Network show years ago. This time though, he won't always answer the questions solo. He'll also have stylist, designers and models chime in. The kids on the radio block are Dean and Dan Caten, the brothers duo behind Dsquared2. Their show will be broadcast on Sirius radio starting May 5th. This one is a little different. They'll play all of their favorite music, including stuff from their runway soundtracks. That's a nice twist. They'll also have interviews with celebs and discuss fashion and life in general.

The Hills Have Clothes

I'm not sure how they do it. I really need the playbook. You star on a reality show or two and opportunities seem to fall in your lap. Maybe that's just what it looks like on the outside. Case in point, Lauren Conrad, formerly of the Hills fame is partnering with Kohl's department store for her own exclusive line, LC Lauren Conrad. This comes on the heels of her announcement that she's taking a break from her original line before re-launching it overseas in 2010. As for her Kohl's line, she's been working with the retailer for almost a year to create "California-inspired" t-shirts, dresses and jeans. This line will reportedly have price points between $20 and $60. Look for the pieces in stores this October in select Kohl's stores. If it does well, it will be picked up by the remaining Kohl's department stores. I don't know... the formula seems to be appear on reality show and opportunity comes knocking. Am I way off on this one?

Supermodel Shoes

The newly pregnant Heidi Klum was spotted on the streets of L.A. doing a photo shoot recently. As if seeing a supermodel on the streets isn't enough, this supermodel was sporting some very interesting footwear. Work it out, mama!

Peek-a-boo

I'm not sure how I feel about this but, it's interesting none the less. These funky boots look very Ugg-like until you collapse the front flap. The Bootie Pies are a little creation that can make it easy for women everywhere to be comfortable and still get that last-minute pedicure. You wear the boots because you want comfort. Then you decide you need a pedicure really bad but you are without flip-flops. So, what's a girl to do? Well you can still get that pedi and then collapse the front of the boot to free your toes and not mess up your fresh pedi. Then again, I'm wondering, how you get your foot in the boot without messing up your pedi. Do you wear the boots as you get your toes done? So many questions.....

Rebel Richie

Nobody is more in awe than I am about the transformation of Nicole Richie. Okay, maybe a few people are. You know, those that actually know her and all. That being said, she's turning into quite the entrepreneur. Soon you'll be able to steal her style from head to toe - accessory-wise, that is. Since her line of headbands and jewelry proved successful, the celeb is at it again. This time she inked a deal to design footwear. Her partners in this venture also produce Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans. This will prove to be an interesting collaboration. She will add a line of about 20 shoe styles to her House of Harlow 1960 label. Expect to see the new stuff in sprint of 2010. In addition, she'll be designing bags, belts and other small accessories. Click here to check out her current collection.

Kanye's Kicks, Numero Dos

As if the Louis Vuitton kicks weren't enough, Kanye West has released his shoe for Nike as well.
The highly anticipated Air Yeezys hit stores, with the first of three colorways—Zen Grey— this month. West’s kicks are limited to select retailers, including all Foot Locker House of Hoops locations, and carry a price tag of $215. As soon as they hit store shelves... they pretty much sold out. A black version of the shoe will be on sale starting May 2 and a third color will hit stores in June. They are more affordable than the pricey Louis Vuitton sneaks. Still, glimmers of hope and all, we're in a recession people!

Gwyneth's Style

Are there enough celebrities in the fashion world? Gwyneth Paltrow doesn't seem to think so. The actress has just designed her own collection for Fall/Winter '09. She's partnered with French label ZOEtee's to create ZOEtee's Loves Gwyneth. The line reportedly consists of jersey basics with some glam 70's looks. Pieces are also said to have some masculine touches in the tailoring. Should be interesting. The collection was unveiled recently in second home, London. Seems the star is designing with a purpose, proceeds from every item sold will be donated to the London's Kids Company. Gwyneth is all over the place lately when it comes to her entrepreneurial ventures. She's created the website GOOP, there's talk of she and her trainer opening up a gym and now she's in the fashion world. Let's not forget she's an actress. She's gearing up to film a movie right now as well.

Out of the Closet... for Charity

Since Gweneth started her lifestyle website GOOP, she's been sharing more of herself. Well now she's sharing even more and dipping into her designer-filled closet for charity. In the spirit of a little spring cleaning she's put items from her closet on ebay to raise funds for the Robin Hood Foundation. Her closet is giving up some pretty fab items. Look for Jimmy Choo and Valentino bags and Roger Vivier sandals. Sound like things you wouldn't mind having in your wardrobe? Well, head on over to ebay for the goods.

The Smell of Success

Did you feel that? That was Jay-Z's empire expanding... again. The hip-hop mogul just dropped some big news! He's entering the world of smell goods... also known as fragrances. Representatives for Parlux confirmed that Jay-Z, his mentee, Rihanna, Kanye West and a "well- established female artist" they are keeping top secret are a part of a fragrance deal with Jay-Z's licensing company Iconic Fragrances. Hmm... could the top secret female be Mrs. Beyonce Carter? The people at Parlux dismissed that notion... time will tell. Both Rihanna and Kanye will launch signature scents in the summer of 2010, while Jay-Z and the mystery star will follow suit in 2011. Jay-Z seems to be looking forward to the collaboration saying, "We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Parlux and their management team in the launch of these dynamic new brands.” For their part, Parlux’s CEO Neil Katz says, “We are extremely excited to begin work on our projects with Rihanna and Kanye West. Each is an extremely highly regarded celebrity at the top of his or her profession who is undoubtedly going to make an indelible impression in the fragrance industry, just as each has done in the entertainment world.” Seems like one big love fest so far. Looking forward to the sniff test.

Lindsay's Legs!

Lindsay Lohan hasn't been doing much acting lately but, that's not to say she hasn't been busy. The starlet launched a successful leggings collection a while back. Now she's adding to her line with hosiery. This summer she will add five styles of tights to her legwear brand 6126. I'm not sure how I feel about a tights launch in the summer but, we'll see. She's also added a spray tan line to her empire that's set to hit Sephora.com tomorrow.

Huh? What?

If you've ever watched an episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta then you are familiar with Dwight. He's Nene's BFF. He had a party recently where he announced his engagement and he showed up wearing this. I should also say that Dwight prides himself on his fashion know-how. That being said, I don't know how this is fashionable. He is sporting mink pants and a cashmere sweater. The sweater works... but, the pants are a whole other issue. I can't imagine how hot they must be. Beyond that, aren't we being more environmental and animal friendly these days? I guess all of us aren't on that train yet. Who makes these pants? Where did they come from? Where are they sold? So many questions... so few answers!

Step into Fergie's Shoes

Somebody has shoes on the brain. Fergie Ferg debuted a new footwear line here in L.A. recently. She says her new line is recessionista-friendly. At times like this, that's music to our ears. The kicks are priced between $60 and $129. She says that she'd feel like she was being really irresponsible right now if she had a line out of her fans price range. The collection is called, what else, Fergie. It includes everything from zip up gladiator heels, sneakers to flats and strappy sandals. Here's a sampling of some shoes from the line. They are described on Nordstrom's website as "confident and glamorous with a bit of a rock n roll edge."

Alexander the Great!

Some interesting designs made their way down the runway in an Alexander McQueen show recently. I found these images and had to share. I like the dress in the first pic. The metal get-up under it... that scares me.... a lot! The dress in the second pic is really pretty and serene but the models enhanced red lips are a bit of a distraction. He used something like wax lips on the models to give them an EXTRA pout. Then there's the birdcage on the head of the last model. INCREDIBLE!

The last few pics are a little more sane. This was quite a show and the clothes are phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!

Who Rocked It?

These ladies are getting into the spring of things! Tori Spelling and Maria Menunos slipped into the same Shoshanna frock for separate events. Tori accented the pastel green number with black pumps and a red pout. Maria slipping into some white peep-toes. Both ladies look ready for spring, but who rocked it?

M-W meets H-M

This month, big things are happening at H&M! Well, at least one huge thing. U.K. designer Matthew Williamson will be debuting his line at the retailer on the 23rd. The highly-anticipated line will include everything from swimwear to evening gowns. Williamson has found fans with the celeb set and now he's bringing his bright and bold designs to the masses. To be clear, his line will be more expensive than typical H&M fare. Prices will range from a $25 pendant necklace to $249 for a leather jacket and a sequin minidress for $349. As far as that goes, I just say, choose wisely.
