Fashion on the Move!

After 17 years, New York Fashion Week is getting a new space to call home. Fashion's biggest showing will be moving its twice-annual event. Since 1993, the event has called New York's Bryant Park home, now it will relocate to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park starting in September 2010. The show's organizers had been in talks with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office for more than two years to find a new location. The mayor was in favor of moving the events because he's maintained that the events were outgrowing the park. I think he has a point. It takes the crew more than a week to erect the tents. The shows last for eight days after that with 5 more days slated for cleanup. That's quite an effort. Although it's a huge undertaking, Fashion Week delivers with huge profits for the city. It generates hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity. These days, no one would turn that a way!
