Idol Baubles

People always have something to say about American Idol judge Paula Abdul... here's one more. She gift the contestants of the hit show with pieces from her self-designed jewelry. You thought I was going the gossip route, huh? Well now you can get your hands on the these baubles. Abdul has teamed up with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) for her jewelry and accessories collection. The line is called "Forever Your Girl", feel free to insert comments here. The line hit HSN in December 2008. The current collection just consist of jewels and accessories but, Abdul has plans for expansion into fragrance and active wear. While I'm a fan of the piece above, the best part of this whole endeavor is its affordability. Prices range from $30-$80.

Inspired by Harlow

Is it me or has Nicole Richie made a complete turnaround? No more of the wild partying Nicole we had grown to know. This Nicole is a mom in a committed relationship with a new baby on the way. She's become something of a do-gooder with a foundation to help other moms. Her other ambitions include talk of children's clothing and a jewelry line. The name of that jewelry line is that of her daughter "House of Harlow 1960". She's been making the rounds, showing off her line by wearing it to Hollywood hot spots. Great advertising, don't you think? It's a 1960's jewelry line with gold and lacquered bracelets, cocktail rings and headbands. The line made it's debut in celeb haunt Kitson in December. It's a 35 piece collection with prices ranging from $50 to $250. She's not coming up with these fab designs by herself. Richie teamed up with celeb jeweler Pascal Mouawad to pull the collection together.

Classic is Queen

I’m all for trends, I really am. But some things are classic. Some designers are known for churning our pieces that are instant classics. The house of Chanel is definitely on that list. From the iconic blazers to this string of pearls… they scream classic. I’d wear it with jeans and a crisp, white top, a LBD or anything I wanted to add some flair to.

Girl it Up

There are so many things to love about Scarlett Johannsen. Her movies, her fashion sense, her activism but, if her engagement ring is number one on the list of things you love about ScarJo keep reading! The woman behind the design of her ring, Sonia Boyajian has a knack for making the unexpected beautiful. Each piece is a conversation starter and like nothing you’d typically find on the market. My faves are her necklaces which blend so many different shapes and colors together. This method of blending could easily get messy. Under her care they become statement pieces that add pop to any outfit. It’s no wonder Hollywood came calling. She sells her baubles out of her Hollywood studio. W Magazine called Sonia’s work “an explosive mix of girlish wit and off-kilter glamour.” We’re inclined to agree.

Natural Beauty

The windy city just got cooler! Chicago designer, Sarah Fox has made an entry into the jewelry and home accessories scene that makes a statement. Her pieces reflect the beauty of nature using uncommon materials. She combines lace and knits with delicate chains that combine to create the simplest forms found in nature. She also makes lacy designs for the home. Lucky for us, these aren't your grandma's doilies! These hand painted and gold leafed votives are a nod from the designer to the endangered landscape of glaciers. She's clearly got a love affair with nature and we're loving it!

Off the Cuff

Is it a work of art or an artsy piece of work? I'm going to go with both. Wonder Woman had her bracelets to keep her safe and invincible. Now you have yours! The Fenton star burst cuff is a cute little accessory and while it may not have super powers, no one has to know! This handmade cuff is crafted out of solid brass. I like it because it's adjustable, so I can rock it on my upper arm or on my wrist. I have gained a new appreciation for cuffs. I guess I never knew Wonder Woman had it so good!

What is Art?

Is it a brooch, a stone, or a ring? Well, I guess it's kinda all three. This Erickson Beamon creation can fall into many categories, conversation piece being one of them. In case you haven't noticed, cocktail rings are in and the bigger... the better! While this one looks brooch-is, it's actually a stone cluster ring. Covered by the gold leaf embellishments, the black and opalescent stones are unique and glam all at the same time. The just-thrown-together look of the ring makes it even more interesting. What do you think - is it arsty or just plain confusing?

Christmas in July

There are a few things that get my attention - bows fall in that group (it signifies a gift). This ring would be a gift that gets attention. Designer, Martin Margiela has taken the classic bow and made it a fashion statement. You can find it at Brown's in London. It's large and in charge - never a bad thing - and sits on an expandable band. Seems fitting for a birthday or Christmas gift. How cute would this be affixed to a gift box? It can be a little flashy being that it's a HUGE gift bow but rocked the right way it can be oh-so-chic!

Boombastic

Back in the day it was all about the beat! L.L. rapped about it on "My Radio". Boom box on your shoulder. Beat boxing on the corner, battling in the park, break dancing on a cardboard box. That was then, now the boom box has moved from the shoulder to your fingers. This ring screams an ode to early hip hop. It was during this era that we first started wearing the door knocker earrings and rings that spanned two or three fingers. This ring is no exception. It's a flash back in so many ways! Brings back good memories! Memories about me and my radio!

Be-Jeweled

This isn't your grandmother's jewelry... they're cocktail rings! Costume jewelry is coming back hard and it all begins with the ring. There are so many styles popping up right now. These are just a few I found adorable and must-havable. Is that a word? These trinkets are available at girlprops.com for 6.99 & 12.99 respectively.

Big Bold Bright

On the accessories side of things, it seems everything is getting big! Necklaces are chunky, bags are ginormous and rings look like brooches. They are darn right big, bright and bold and I for one couldn't be happier. It makes adding a chic touch to your look so much simpler. This ring from Erika Pena can add a little glam to anything from jeans and a tee to an evening gown on the red carpet. Taking your look from everyday to runway is as easy as going big!
