Fashionably Speaking...

"Today, fashion is really about sensuality—how a woman feels on the inside. In the '80s women used suits with exaggerated shoulders and waists to make a strong impression. Women are now more comfortable with themselves and their bodies—they no longer feel the need to hide behind their clothes."

~Donna Karan, American Fashion Designer

What Choo Say!?!?

H&M can do no wrong! Maybe that's a strong statement, but it's one I stand by. They seem to only collaborate with the best in the biz. Hot on the trail of their successful collabo with Matthew Williamson's summer line is a new deal with none other than Jimmy Choo! Yes, shoes of the stars, Jimmy Choo! Are they trying to bankrupt me?! The luxury shoe line will be creating men and women's shoes as well as accessories and handbags! It doesn't stop there. Expect Jimmy Choo for H&M clothes for women to hit the racks as well. This...is...overload!Shoes will range from $60 to $200. All of this fabulousness will hit stores November 14th.

Lacroix Goes for Broke

Tongues have been wagging for some time about the fate of Christian Lacroix. There was the story of an "in the works" deal with Swiss buyers being tossed around. Surely wagging tongues went into overdrive when the fashion house showed their fall 2009 line in a Paris parking lot! Something clearly is just not right! Well, they were right to be suspicious. Recently, the French fashion house announced that it is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Word on the runway is the fashion house never turned a profit and just last year lost about 14 million dollars. These are not good signs, people. It seemed they would be on the rebound when they were sold from Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy to the Falic Group in 2005. But then that global recession hit and any chances of coming back from the brink all but vanished. The owners of Christian Lacroix say they are not going to give up on the troubles fashion house, even in this dire state of affairs. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Let's hope another parking lot production is not in their future.

Beyonce's Brand

Beyonce has a little more to give, other than sizzling performances, with her upcoming world tour. A handful of lucky fans will be getting some fashionable extras. Two audience members at each stop along the US leg of her “I Am…Sasha Fierce” performances will receive a Dereon handbag and sunglasses. These aren't just any Dereon handbag and sunglasses, but they are identical to what Bey wears onstage. Nice!

Heidi's Empire

Heidi Klum has graced the cover of many publications, but the June issue of German Vogue will have more than her face attached to it. Her home country is giving her the honor of being the guest editor of an issue that's all about her. This months' issue boasts a special 140-page spread entitled "Heidi by Vogue". There isn't a piece of the magazine that doesn't have the Heidi touch. She worked with photographers, hair stylists and the mag's regular editor to pull the issue together, as well as lending her famous figure to photo spreads. According to Heidi, the entire issue was shot in 1 week!

Smelling Stars

The House of Givenchy can't seem to get enough of actresses... at least for their Parfums division. Liv Tyler has long been the face of the brand. Now she's got some company. The company recently hired Uma Thurman as the brands newest celebrity model. Liv will still be the face of the brand, Uma will be represented in a campaign for a new scent. I say, work it out then ladies.... and smell good while doing it!

When CS met VS

Since winning Project Runway Christian Siriano has been one busy designer! He's already linked up with Bluefly.com for a clothing line, he also has a shoe collection with Payless and a maternity line. He has been working his fierceness all over the place. Now he's partnered with beauty/lingerie giant Victoria's Secret to launch his own collection of makeup for the brand. Hmm, could Heidi Klum have anything to do with this hook up? She already has her own signature collection with the brand. His glam new collection is the limited-edition Christian Siriano for VS Makeup. It includes five shadow shades, black liner, three gloss colors, a bronzer-highlighter, makeup brush and a ruffled cosmetic bag. Prices for the collection will start at $12 for eyeliner and top out at $32 for the luxe face brush. Sounds like a fierce deal to me!

Becks Wares

There's a new designer in the house! The Beckham house, that it. Victoria isn't the only one bitten by the fashion bug. Her hubby, David, is joining the business. He's been modeling for the Emporio Armani brand and now he's branching out to do his own thing. The footballer will be partnering with Adidas to launch his own fall-winter men's line for Adidas Originals by Originals. This pairing certainly makes sense. His new line will feature updated American sportswear as well as a new spin on classic Adidas styles. This should prove interesting. For me, the most shocking part of the deal is that David Beckham won't be the face of the brand! Let the model search for a sports hottie look alike begin!
