Fashion Conscious

Donna Karan New York may not be showing at the Bryant Park tents but, the designer did have a show displaying her wares in her Greenwich Street studio. While speaking at 2009's FIAF (French Institute Alliance Francoise) Fashion Talk series, she talked passionately about her career in fashion. During her talk the word consciousness kept coming up. "When I think of Donna Karan the company, I think of a woman's consciousness. It's about the role that women play and the energy needed today", she said. According to the designer, the goal of her designs are to be as "comfortable, sensual, day to evening" and "hopefully, a mix of fantasy and function." When it comes to her 2009 collection specifically she says, "It's done with what's right for now. I'm designing with consciousness. I find it a very challenging time, but it gets your creative juices flowing." Now let's home the economy starts flowing again so we can buy some of these fabulous wares.
